In September 2006 I bought a
Precision M90 from Dell
I got the laptop with 2GB of RAM and a 100GB of disk-space - so hopefully that will suffice... for a while.
I am a Microsoft MSDN Subcriber; so I have access to all the Microsoft application software - currently I have installed
- XP 64 including IIS6
- Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite (for Architects, Developers, Database Designers, and Testers
- SQL Server 2005 (compatible with Sql Server 2000 databases)
- Source Safe 2005 (compatible with Source Safe v6)
- Office 2003 (including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, FrontPage
- SnagIt (v8) for screen captures
- MS Small Business Accounting (and SDK)
- Quickbooks Pro 2006 (and SDK)
- To protect my laptop and the network I have on my system:
- avast! Antivirus (I was using ZoneAlarm suite but they did not have a version for XP64 at the time)
- WinPatrol Plus (watches for new startups/services/registry changes etc)
- Spybot Search & Destroy (good small program that looks for malware)
- I normally do nightly backups, trying out Acronis and other packages since most (like Norton Ghost which I used) do not run on XP64
- WordWeb Pro (great little add-on dictionary)
- Microsoft Patterns & Practices downloads - Enterprise Library
- Process Explorer (good little app for find threads & DLL dependencies)
- MS Virtual Server
- MS Project 2007
- nUnit
- MS Fx Cop
- Nattyware (neat little add-on for getting colour IDs)<br />
- I did have on my previous laptop VC6 & VB6 but I will wait to see if I need them
My current phone is the Treo 650
In the Home Office I have the Cogeco Ultra High-Speed Internet
My ISP is currently ISQ Solutions based out of Oakville
One of the few non-performance items I have is my 1998 Honda CRV which I stress it's reliability and versatility
