The short version of the resume is as follows:
- After graduating with a Computer Science diploma from Sheridan in 1987 I started working at ABELSoft
- I moved up from a junior developer to senior, to lead developer, to development manager of the medical division
- Over that time of about 14 years, I had worked on many different projects and platforms - from SCO XENIX, to DOS, to Windows
- I had worked a lot on shell-scripts, C code, C++, and a bit of Java.
- I joined Janna in 2000, and was in charge of the Server Development projects - which included their application server and handheld syncronization
- Around 2001 when Siebel acquired Janna - I became a senior manager in Institutional Finance
- My head-count varied in the next few years, but the biggest count was 15 FTEs, plus a couple of on-site partner developers, and a few remote developers helping with our projects
- Most of my time at Siebel involved looking over the projects; project and staff management;
- Making sure development procedures were followed, reviewing product requirement and design documents and working with all the related groups of developers, product managers, project managers, QA teams, etc
- Since 2003, when I was included in one of the many rounds of Siebel lay-offs during that era - I have been doing contract software development.
- I started this company, of which I am still a Sole-Proprietor.
- Most of the projects have been in Windows applications (although I have spent a lot of time learning more about .Net web-apps)
- My focus going forward is to continue with contract development work, although I do listen to what senior managerial positions are available if & when I do return to being a full-time employee.
- Although it is extremely interesting learning about new technologies, I normally try to constrain that to within the Microsoft development domain.
